Orange Torte



Orange Torte
Ingredients
Filling Ingredients
8 oz pkg. cream cheese, softened 
½ cup sugar
1 cup whipped cream Click here for the recipe
Cake Ingredients
2 ¼ sifted all-purpose flour

1 1/3 cups sugar
 3 teaspoons baking powder
 ½ teaspoon salt
 ½ cup vegetable oil or shortening
¾ cup milk
¼ cup orange juice
1 tablespoon grated orange peel

 1 teaspoon Vanilla
  2 eggs 
Orange Sauce  Ingredients (optional)
½ cup orange juice
½ cup sugar
½ tablespoon cornstarch

For Topping
Fresh Mandarin or 11 oz can mandarin segments, drained
Directions

 Filling Directions
* beat cream cheese and sugar until smooth
* Add whipped cream and mix well

Cake Directions
*  Combine dry ingredients together
* Add oil, milk, orange juice and vanilla and mix well with electronic mixer for a minute on low speed
*  Add eggs, grated orange peel and mix for half minute on low speed, then on medium speed mix for 2 minutes
* Pour the mixture into three greased and floured 9 x 1½ inch round Cake Pan
* Bake in preheated oven at 350 f (175 c) for 20 – 25 minutes, or until toothpick inserted in center comes out clean
* Cool 10 minutes, remove from pans, cool completely on wire rack
*Fill layers with cheese frosting, frost top layer, arrange mandarin segment on top
* Pour warm Orange Sauce
* Refrigerate at least 2 hours
Orange Sauce Directions
* In a saucepan over medium heat combine juice, sugar and cornstarch, stir until it boils
* Reduce heat to low, boil for 5 minutes
* Turn off heat and keep aside
