Black Forest Cake


Black Forest Cake
Ingredients
Cake Ingredients
 2 cups + 2 Tbsp sifted all-purpose flour
 2 cups sugar
 ¾ cup unsweetened cocoa powder
 1 ½ teaspoon baking powder
 ¾ teaspoon baking soda
 ¾ teaspoon salt
 3 eggs
 1 cup milk
 ½ cup vegetable oil, or shortening
 1 teaspoon Vanilla
Cherry Sauce Ingredients
2 (15 oz) cans pitted dark sweet cherry in heavy syrup 
1 cup sugar
¼ cup cornstarch
1 teaspoon Vanilla
For topping
3 cup whipped cream

Directions
Cherry Sauce Directions
* Drain cherry completely from syrup, save  ½  cup of syrup to use
* In saucepan on low heat add syrup, cherry, sugar and cornstarch, stir until thickens.
* Turn off the heat, add vanilla and let cool completely

Cake Directions
 * Preheat an oven to 350 f (175 c)
* Combine dry ingredients (flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, salt and cocoa ) together
 * Add eggs, oil,  milk and vanilla, mix well for a 1 ½  minute

* Pour the mixture into two greased and floured 9 x 1½ inch round Cake Pan
* Bake each pan for 30 – 35 minutes, or until toothpick inserted in center comes out clean
* Cool 10 minutes, remove from pans, cool completely on wire rack  
Application
 * Split each layer in half horizontally so that we get four layers Cake
* Leave a layer aside and crush it to garnish  cake side with it
* Fill each layer with whipped cream and ¼ cup cherry sauce
*Frost the last layer and cake sides with whipped cream, decorate the top layer in circle with whipped cream using tips decoration, pour last amount of cherry sauce in the top middle

 * Garnish cake side with crushed layer, or chocolate sprinkles as desired
* store covered in refrigerator. Yield 24 servings
