Basic Cake



Basic Yellow Cake
Ingredients
2 ¼ cups sifted all-purpose flour
1 + 1/3 cups sugar
3 teaspoons baking powder
½ teaspoon salt
 ½ cup vegetable oil, margarine or shortening
 1 cup milk
 1 teaspoon Vanilla
 2 eggs
 Directions
Combine dry ingredients together
* Add oil, milk and vanilla and mix well with electronic mixer for a minute on low speed
 *  Add eggs and mix for half minute on low speed, then on medium speed mix for 2 minutes
* Pour the mixture into two greased and floured 9 x 1½ inch round Cake Pan
* Bake in preheated oven at 350 f (175 c) for 30 – 35 minutes, or until toothpick inserted in center and comes out clean.
* Cool 10 minutes, remove from pans, cool completely on wire rack.
* Frost it if desired. Yield 12 to 16 pieces

 
Basic White Cake
Ingredients

 4 egg whites
 Directions
Combine dry ingredients together
* Add oil, milk and vanilla and mix well with electronic mixer for a minute on low speed
*  Add egg whites and mix for half minute on low speed, then on medium speed mix for 2 minutes
* Pour the mixture into two greased and floured 9 x 1½ inch round Cake Pan
