Basic Chocolate Cake
Ingredients
2 cups sifted all purpose flour
1 1/3 cups sugar
1 teaspoon baking powder
½ teaspoon baking soda
½ teaspoon salt
½ cup butter or margarine or vegetable oil
1 cup milk
1 teaspoon vanilla
2 eggs
2 squares (1 oz each) unsweetened chocolate, melted
Directions
* Combine dry ingredients together
* Add oil, milk and vanilla and mix well with electronic mixer for a minute on low speed
* Add eggs and mix for half minute on low speed
* Add melted chocolate and on medium speed mix for 2 minutes.
* Pour the mixture into two greased and floured 9 x 1½ inch round Cake Pan
* Bake in preheated oven at 350 f (175 c) for 30 – 35 minutes, or until toothpick inserted in center comes out clean
* Cool 10 minutes, remove from pans, cool completely on wire rack.
* Frost it if desired. Yield 12 to 16 pieces
